AI permission and what is sent to OpenAI
Athene and the automated checks of comments use OpenAI, so they need your permission first. This is what the permission covers, what is sent, and how to withdraw it.
What the permission covers
Scoutyx asks for your permission in the app before any of your data is sent to OpenAI. The permission covers two things:
- Athene, the AI assistant;
- the automated checks of some texts before they are published: comments, endorsements, club invitation notes, and an organisation’s posts, staff, trophies and trials.
Without it you can still use Scoutyx, but you cannot use Athene or publish the texts that are checked. If you are under 16, your parent or guardian decides. With it, the name and city of a club you suggest when you cannot find yours are checked too.

What is sent to OpenAI
- For Athene: the message you type and your own earlier messages in that conversation, never Athene’s replies.
- For a comparison: each athlete’s sport, position, country, age, dominant side, years of experience and latest season statistics, labelled "Athlete A", "Athlete B" and so on rather than by name.
- For an athlete’s coaching: their messages and their sport, position, age, dominant side and years of experience.
- For the automated checks: the text being checked.
Body measurements and fitness figures are never sent. What you type yourself is sent as written, so do not include anyone else’s health information in it.
OpenAI processes this data for us under a data processing agreement, does not use it to train its models, and may keep it for up to 30 days to monitor for abuse.

When a check stops a text
If an automated check finds that a comment or another checked text may be harmful, it is not published. You can edit it and try again, or write to support@scoutyx.com if you think it was stopped by mistake. The checks never suspend an account.
Withdrawing it
You can withdraw the permission at any time in Profile > Settings > Privacy > AI features (OpenAI). From then on, nothing more of yours is sent to OpenAI, and Athene and the checked texts stop working for you. Withdrawing does not affect what was sent before.
If you are a scout or an organisation, withdrawing it also deletes your saved Athene chats. The app asks you first and says how many will go.
If you are under 16, the setting shows what your guardian decided, and you can ask them from there. Your guardian can withdraw it from the link in their consent confirmation email.
