Parents & Safety

A letter to parents

Your child's talent deserves to be seen, and their safety comes first. That's how we built Scoutyx.

Athletes under 16 can only join with a parent or guardian's consent (in Australia, nobody under 16 can join), and the profile of an athlete under 18 is seen only by scouts and clubs signed in to Scoutyx, never on the public web. Scouts are the only users who can send athletes private messages, and only inside the app. Nobody can message an athlete under 16. We never show an athlete's email address, and profiles have no place for a phone number or home address.

You stay in control. You can ask us to review, correct or delete your child's account at any time.

If something ever doesn't feel right, write to us at support@scoutyx.com. A real person on our team will read it.

How we protect athletes

  1. 01

    A guardian says yes first

An athlete aged 13 to 15 can only open an account after a parent or guardian consents (not in Australia, where you must be 16), through a short form we email to them. There is no payment, no card and no ID document involved. Nobody under 13 can join. A guardian can withdraw consent at any time, and the account is hidden straight away.

  2. 02

Profiles are seen only inside the app

An under-16 athlete's profile opens only after their parent or guardian consents, and an under-18's profile is seen only by scouts and clubs signed in to Scoutyx: never on a public web page, by search engines or in link previews. We do not review profiles before they become visible; our team reviews profiles and content that are reported.

  3. 03

Contact happens only inside the app

Scouts are the only users who can send athletes private messages, and only inside the app. Clubs cannot message athletes. A scout's first message is a request the athlete can accept or decline. No scout or club can message an athlete under 16, even with a guardian's consent.

  4. 04

    No contact details on profiles

We do not show an athlete's email address on a profile, in search or in Athene, and profiles have no field for a phone number or home address. What athletes write themselves, in a bio, a post or a message, is not checked for contact details, so it is worth talking with your child about keeping them out.

  5. 05

    Identity verification with Stripe Identity

Adults can confirm who they are with an official document and a selfie. The check is done by Stripe: the document goes straight to them and Scoutyx never stores it. A verified athlete shows a badge on their profile. Nobody under 18 can use it.

The full detail is in our Privacy Policy and Terms of Service. Our standards on child sexual abuse and exploitation are in Child Safety Standards.

Your account

A profile is managed from the app, where it can be edited or made private at any time.

To delete an account, use Delete account in the app, or delete it here on the web, which works without the app. That page explains what is deleted, what is kept and for how long.

A parent or guardian who wants their child's account deleted can also write to support@scoutyx.com.
