The match score

The number from 0 to 100 on each athlete card shows how well that athlete fits your search. Scoutyx works it out from the profiles, with no AI.

What the match score is

The match score is the number from 0 to 100 on each athlete card in Athene. It shows how well that athlete fits what you asked for. It is not the result of a game, and it is not a rating of the athlete.

Scoutyx works the score out on its own servers from the profiles. No AI ranks athletes.

Must-haves decide who appears

Some parts of a search decide who appears at all, and do not change the score:

  • the sport;
  • an age range given in numbers;
  • the playing line (for example, defence or attack), in sports that have lines;
  • the place: nationality, or where the athlete lives;
  • the gender, when you ask for one.

A search made only of these (sport, age, place and gender) shows every athlete it finds at 100.

How the score is worked out

Everything else you ask for makes the score: how close to the asked position the athlete plays, the dominant foot or hand, measurements, skills, availability and so on.

  • A wish the athlete meets counts fully.
  • A figure close to the range you asked for counts in part, and less the further away it is.
  • Something the athlete has not recorded counts for half. Body and fitness figures that an athlete has chosen not to show count as not recorded.

Not every wish weighs the same: how close the position is counts the most. A word such as "fast" becomes a number from the range that is usual in the sport, and the reply shows it.

To appear in the results, an athlete needs a minimum score on the wishes they have recorded.

When nothing matches

When no athlete matches exactly, Athene widens the search one step at a time and tells you which step it took:

  • first, the closest matches, below the usual minimum score;
  • then, profiles that have not recorded the position or gender you asked for;
  • then, other countries.

It never drops the sport or the age. If no step finds anyone, Athene says so and suggests a broader search.

Who can appear

  • Only active profiles that are public appear.
  • Someone who has blocked you, or whom you have blocked, never appears.
  • An athlete aged 13 to 15 appears only after a parent or guardian has agreed.
  • When a search asks for a body or fitness measurement, athletes under 18 appear only to scouts and organisations whose account is verified.

A card never shows contact details. Scouts contact athletes inside Scoutyx.
