Young athletes and guardians
Athletes can join Scoutyx from 13. Under 16, a parent or guardian consents first, and young athletes get extra protections.
Who can join
- Nobody under 13 can open an account. Such a sign-up is refused, and nothing about the person is kept, only an anonymous record of the refusal.
- From 13 to 15, an account opens only after a parent or guardian consents.
- In Australia, nobody under 16 can open an account, even with a guardian’s consent.
- From 16 to 17, athletes sign up on their own. They can name a guardian, who then receives a notice that the account exists.
- Scout and organisation accounts are for adults (18 or over).
How a guardian consents
When someone aged 13 to 15 signs up, we email the parent or guardian a link to a short form on our website. No payment, card check or identity document is involved. Two consents are required: to the service itself, which is a sports profile with photos and videos that clubs and scouts on Scoutyx can see, and, in a box of its own, to the athlete’s body and fitness figures. Permission for AI features is optional and decided separately.
Until the guardian consents, the account stays closed: it does not appear anywhere, nobody can see it or contact it, and it cannot be used.

After consent
The account opens, and the profile is visible straight away, inside the app, to people signed in to Scoutyx. It is never shown on the public web. We do not review profiles before they become visible; our team reviews profiles and content that are reported.
Messages and contact
No scout or organisation can message an athlete under 16, with or without a guardian’s consent. The only messages an athlete under 16 receives come from the official Scoutyx account.
Scouts are the only users who can send athletes private messages, and a scout’s first message is a request the athlete can accept or decline. When a scout writes to an athlete under 18, the athlete sees a safety reminder before replying, whether or not the scout follows them. If a scout keeps contacting different athletes under 18, our team is alerted.
An organisation that wants to follow an athlete under 18 has to send a follow request, which the athlete, or the guardian for a younger athlete, can accept or decline. Following never opens messages.

Clubs on a young athlete’s profile
If an athlete under 16 asks to show a club, academy or agency on their profile, we email the guardian about that one link, and it appears nowhere until the guardian approves it. The organisation is not told about the request until then. A request the guardian does not answer within 7 days is declined.
For an athlete under 18, the club’s name on their profile, and their name on the club’s page, are shown only to the athlete, to the club itself and to scouts who have verified their identity. Everyone else sees only how many athletes the club has.

What a guardian can change
Until the athlete turns 16, a guardian can, from the permanent link in the consent confirmation email, withdraw the permission for AI features on its own, or withdraw their consent altogether. Withdrawing the consent to body and fitness figures counts as withdrawing it altogether, because the account needs it. When consent is withdrawn, the account is hidden at once, cannot be used, and is scheduled for deletion.
An athlete under 16 who wants AI features can send their guardian a request from the app ("Ask my guardian"). The guardian decides.
To have a child’s account and its data deleted, a guardian can also use the deletion page on our website (choosing the parent or guardian option) or write to support@scoutyx.com. We act on it without asking for a reason.
